“Where is Rose?” — is a Polish musical about Mazovia, its legends and everything that cannot be closed in the official rubric. The event was prepared on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the accession of Mazovia to the Polish Crown (1526—2026), which, closing the era of the independent Duchy of Mazovia, constitutes one of the foundations of regional identity.

The play is not only a reconstruction of old traditions, but a modern voice in the discussion about the power of tradition and memory. Combining elements of comedy, crime and contemporary musical theatre, the creators ask questions about how in the modern world we protect intangible heritage — our fairy tales, legends and mythology.

The action of the show takes viewers into the realities of the metaphorical Office of Standardization and Recording of Fairy Tales and Legends. This institution ensures that every supernatural character — from Master Twardowski to the Black Beast — has proper documentation and sanctioned status. However, the smooth operation of the bureaucratic machine is interrupted by the sudden disappearance of Róża from Wyszków. In search of the missing heroine, a duo of officials sets out: Witold Pravny — representing ruthless procedures and the letter of the law, and Konrad — a new employee, looking for an authentic, living voice in old applications. Their journey through Mazovia becomes a pretext to meet the figures of ancient beliefs (e.g. the devil Boruta, the Mermaid or the impetuous prince Siemowit) and discover that the living memory of generations eludes all attempts at formal classification.

The creators of the Polish music and theatre scene are responsible for the artistic shape of the show:
