The stage adaptation of Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan tetralogy tackles the most important problems and plots of the novel. The creators of the play lead the main character, Elena Greco, through the process of maturation and conscious formation of her own identity. What shapes the heroine is relationships with other people, social and educational aspirations, is the dream to break out of the social lowlands, develop, become a writer and succeed.

It is a story about how much our lives are determined by family, origin and social pressure, but also about the courage to be who we want to be.

From reviews:

“Szczawińska's staging — a theatrical essay about femininity and class — is surprisingly faithful to the book. Not so much its letter as its author's strategies and intentions.” (Jakub Zgierski, dwutygodnik.com).

“The brilliant friend of Weronika Szczawińska has something of Gombrowicz's spirit in her. Her adaptation of the Neapolitan tetralogy — the bestselling novel series by an author who goes by the pseudonym Elena Ferrante — is a treatise on how human subjectivity is circumvented in the course of multilateral negotiations between culture and corporeality; how, under the pressure of various masks and forms, a social persona is created. (Jolanta Kowalska, Teatr monthly).

“Presentations of individual experiences intersect with references to contemporary realities, creating a fascinating story of the search for independence, identity, love and the desire for social acceptance.” (Katarzyna Mikołajewska, website Czas Kultury).
