pl. Dąbrowskiego 1, Łódź

“Giselle” is the most typical of the romantic period “ballet with action”, which has been preserved in the world repertoire to our time. The libretto, written by Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges and Théophile Gautier, is based on a legend from the mountains of Harcu about the ghosts of young girls who died before confusion and seducing young men with dance. The theme, depicting the history of unhappy love, corresponds to the ideals of romanticism. Ballet dramaturgy primarily exposes the title role, which requires not only acting skills, but above all a sense of the style of romantic ballet. This title is staged by all the largest theaters in the world, and each of the best ballerinas wants to have it in their repertoire. In our Theater it will be the third premiere of this title, the previous ones were held successively in 1979 choreographed by Jarosław Piasecki and in 2003 by Robert Streiner. The long-awaited position of classical ballet in Łódź will certainly meet the interest of viewers.
