Is it possible to make a nest on someone else's tree?
You can. From what we find along the way. From the stories of those who were here before us, and those who came later. From memory, experiences and own stories.
The NEST is one event in two episodes — about finding your place, taking root and a question that has a special meaning in Warmia: what does it really mean to “be from here”?
On October 3 (Saturday) from 11:00am on stage at the Fish Market we will be performing live the Nest — an art installation growing out of stories about wanderings, identity and a place that over time we begin to call our own.
Warmia is a place where people from different sides came after the war — displaced, repatriated, looking for a new beginning. They found houses, villages and towns that already had their stories. Our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents came here. And the next generations can still ask themselves the question: are we from here? How long does it take for the place to become ours?
October 18th (Sunday) at 11:00 we will harvest the Nest. At the family workshop, children (7+) together with their caregivers will think about what kind of birds we are today, where we came from and where our roads lead. We will connect the resulting sockets into a common installation.
And you, how did you get here?
