The latest and one of the best films in the long series dedicated to Godzilla (about 40 productions have already been made). Godzilla Minus One depicts Japan just after the end of a war that has wreaked economic, social and psychological havoc.
Koichi, a young kamikaze pilot in the rubble of Tokyo, tries to rearrange his life. However, he is overwhelmed by the trauma of meeting Godzilla on Ōdo Island. The monster killed several soldiers from the Koichi detachment. The young soldier is tormented by remorse that he did not manage to save his colleagues. When Godzilla attacks Tokyo, Koichi seeks redemption by taking on the Monster.
This extraordinary, using the conventions of popular genre cinema in a metaphorical way, shows the destructive nature of war.
