Goldsmiths Choral Union: A Child of Our Time

Goldsmiths Choral Union and the Affinity Chamber Orchestra perform Tippett’s celebrated oratorio *A Child of Our Time*. Written in response to Kristallnacht, the work gives voice to the oppressed and replaces traditional chorales with spirituals. Florence Price’s spiritual-inspired overture, Vaughan Williams’ portrait of a displaced traveller and Finzi’s hopeful choral meditation complete a programme exploring conflict, displacement and hope.

Programme: Florence Price: *Concert Overture No. 1*; Finzi: *Lo, the Full, Final Sacrifice*; Vaughan Williams: *The Vagabond*; Tippett: *A Child of Our Time*

Performers: Henna Mun (soprano); Rosamond Thomas (alto); Peter Davoren (tenor); Sir Willard White (bass); Goldsmiths Choral Union; Affinity Chamber Orchestra; Jack Apperley (conductor)
