“WHERE THE SPIRIT OF TRADITION PLAYS WITH MODERN SOUND”
SYMPHOETHNIC is a unique musical project joining forces:
• Golec uOrkiestra
• symphony orchestra
• invited virtuosos of ethnic instruments (folk orchestra, female highlander choir, Wataha drummers, folk flutes, Żywiec bagpipes)
What is Symphoethnic?
is the first in Poland — and one of the few in the world — 90-minute musical project that combines the sound of a symphony orchestra in a modern way with the unique ethnic music of the Carpathian arch and traditional female singing
• is a show with the participation of about 50 outstanding Polish artists
• is a performance whose repertoire is 100% based on Polish music
• it is a space for young talents — students of the Fognisches of Artistic Creativity run by the Golec Brothers Foundation
• is a production where tradition meets modernity in a fresh, bold form
• is a presentation of the most outstanding Polish virtuosos of ethnic music in dialogue with symphony on the world level
• is a show of the highest artistic and emotional values
• is a project that represents an important contribution to the development of contemporary Polish culture
The idea of the project
“Symphoethnic” is music that crosses borders, does not recognize divisions, does not submit to schemes and does not allow itself to be closed in one style. The main thing is one thing: emotions.
It is a story with sound in which everyone can find a piece of themselves.
On the stage they meet:
energetic, exuberant folk and elegant, noble classics — creating a new, unique musical quality.
However, the project goes beyond these two worlds. In its wording we will also hear:
• rock energy
• lyrical, cinematic spaces
• climate of Podhale and Beskids
• jazz improvisation
• modern, club sounds
Arrangement creators
Outstanding Polish artists are responsible for the arrangements:
Krzysztof Herdzin — pianist, composer, arranger, conductor and music producer, orchestrator of the Oscar-winning music of Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, lecturer at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz Rafał Rozmus — composer, violinist and conductor, assistant professor at the Institute of Music of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin Pilch — composer, arranger, music producer and instrumentalist, guitarist of Budek Sufler
SYMPHOETHNIC is not just a concert.
It is a musical experience that connects generations, styles and emotions — showing that Polish tradition can sound modern, fresh and global.
