Doors: 19:00
Goodnight, Texas is a band you've almost certainly heard before somewhere. If you go through their catalog, you hear songs about trapped coal miners and bank-robbing lovebirds, banjos and mandolins -- it's a genre that's hard to put into words. Now you're curious, so you go to see them live. The concert builds up to a fever point and suddenly they sing heartbreaking harmonies without a microphone, and then they rock again, way beyond the steppes.
Goodnight, Texas is named after a small village of 27 people and a few dozen dogs, exactly midway between co-founders Avi Vinocur and Patrick Dyer Wolf's homes on opposite coasts of the United States.
The band's latest album, 'Signals', is a rumbling one of a kind. The album's first single, “RUNAWAYS,” even features a guest solo from Metallica's Kirk Hammett. In addition to the memorable, beats-in-the-face riffs, it seems Goodnight, Texas digs its sonic roots even deeper in every direction on 'Signals'. Tales of the Americana of yesteryear blend with the near past and present through stories of D.B. Cooper and oil workers in North Dakota. The electric guitars thud like hammers, while the mandolins twinkle like faint stars in the night sky.
