No one has meant as much to the professional classical guitar in the Nordic countries as Göran Söllscher. Discover him in the museum's concert hall with a program featuring works by Pärt, Villa-Lobos, Lennon-McCartney and Manuel Ponce, among others.
Since, as a student in 1978, he won first prize in the world's most prestigious guitar competition, the “Concours International de Guitare” in Paris, his career has run non-stop. In his long career, Swedish Göran Söllscher has been a soloist with, among others, the Japan Philharmonic in Tokyo, the Camerata Bern, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, New York's Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Sixten Ehrling, Woldemar Nelsson and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Among many career highlights, he was selected to conduct the “Concerto de Aranjuez” at the “International Hommage to Joaquin Rodrigo” in Madrid, celebrating the composer's 90th birthday in 1991. Göran Söllscher has an exclusive contract with the classical record label, Deutsche Grammophon.
