Directed by: Ewa Platt
Performed by: Zuzanna Radek
Artistic Care: Bartosz Porczyk
Set design: Zuzanna Radek, Ewa Platt
During a six-month period of work on biographical material (memoirs from the last ten years of Zuzanna Radek) and improvisations commenting on it (both dramatic and musical), Radek and Platt write a full-length script that universalizes the story of a young woman in her journey through the normative nature of the body, sexuality and mental health.
The viewer becomes the witness of the most lonely, intimate and stabbed moments first by the environment and then by herself — Suzanne's alter ego — Wanda — spends hours talking to men satisfying their sexual needs in online video chats, asking them to express their pity for her person; she goes out into the street at night to meet 'the old and homeless. 'then he photographs his crying face en masse. Her everyday life is determined by constant and repetitive patterns of rejection and memories of autoaggressive behaviors from the period of eating disorders.
CLEAN GIRL is an image of femininity that is not widely represented or discussed in public discourse today. It is a femininity from under the shadows, from under the dumpster, for which exploring one's own needs and mechanisms is more important than talking about what is needed, healthy, moral and normal. A subversive and provocative exploration, in places very painful and lonely.
CLEAN GIRL received the main prize at the Festival of One Actor MONOFEST 2024 at the Sewing Theatre in Łódź, GRAND PRIX Monopolis 2025 and the audience award of this festival.
The partner of the performance is the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw.
