About the event

Imagine a farm where animals say: “Four legs good, two legs bad!”.

And they begin to act.

They drive people away, seize power and try to create a world on their own terms. Everything sounds great at first: equality, working together and big dreams of a better life. And finally, no one will tell you what to do...

But can the world be arranged so easily? What happens if someone starts to consider themselves better and more important than others?

New leaders are quickly emerging on the farm. They are led by Napoleon, a clever pig who increasingly makes decisions for everyone, so that it is good for her. The established rules are quietly being changed. Napoleon is helped by other pigs, and the order is guarded by dogs that can be really dangerous.

Animals react differently to the situation. A boxer is a strong horse who believes that if he works harder, everything will work out. Clover — an attentive and caring mare — begins to notice that something is wrong here. Benjamin, the old donkey, says little, but understands more than he shows.

Although it was supposed to be better without humans, quickly the animal world becomes similar to how it looked before, as if it were spinning in a circle, similar to the carousel that spins on the stage. Do you always have to get on it?

It's a show about why it's worth thinking for yourself — even when everyone around you is repeating the same slogan out loud.

The story presented is also familiar to adults - but here it was told differently: with humor and faith that the world can be changed together.

Relaxed Performance

The Polish Theatre in Wrocław is preparing a special screening of the play “Animal Farm. Story” in the Relaxed Performance formula, recommended for viewers from the age of 9. The performance, directed by Marta Streker, will take place on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:00am on the Stage at Świebodzki. The event is addressed to those who need more flexible conditions of perception of art — people on the autism spectrum, people with intellectual disabilities, people with high sensory sensitivity and families with children.

As part of the preparations, viewers will receive a pre-guide to facilitate familiarization with the performance and containing a description of the place, actions, characters, scenography and more emotionally difficult moments of the performance. They will be able to enter the audience beforehand, tame the space, meet actors, heroes and selected props, such as masks. A zone of calm and rest will be prepared in the foyer.

Casual performance is a form of participation in a theatrical event that gives the audience a greater sense of security (the so-called loosening of theatrical etiquette). During a free performance, the rigid rules of traditional theater do not apply. Viewers can move around the hall, leave and return to the performance, use the silence zone or react in a natural way for themselves. We do not expect total silence, nor do we require you to stay in your place all the time. During the performance, the soft lighting of the audience will remain on and there will be no moments of total darkness. The volume of the sound effects part and the intensity of the stage smoke will be limited.

The project aims to increase the availability of valuable cultural content for people who, due to special needs, face barriers in accessing culture. It also addresses the problem of a limited range of available events and insufficient systemic cultural education, which from an early age shapes cultural competence and conscious participation in culture.

The Polish Theatre is the first in Wrocław to organize a performance in the Relaxed Performance formula.
