House game

10:00 - 22:00
Al. Solidarności 93, Warszawa

A fashionable and comfortable apartment in the residential complex “Złota Rybka” is a pass to the desired world and the dream of the whole family. Almost all of it. For the average married couple — Irenka (Izabela Dąbrowska) and Marek (Michał Czernecki) and their children — activist Basi (Karolina Charkiewicz) and the life ignoramus of Cuba (Marcin Stępniak/Jędrzej Wielecki), this is not only square meters, but also a ticket to the upper class. To win such a house, they only need to be perfect — beautiful, wealthy, capable and delicately intelligent.

About the event

The whole family enters the game, including her grandmother (Małgorzata Rożniatowska/Ewa Ziętek/Maria Ciunelis), who, although she sees that her children and grandchildren are drowning morally, for their happiness — and probably a piece of the terrace — goes all out. And the strings are pulled here by Cyber Woman (Olga Sarzyńska) — the personification of ruthless algorithms and a virtual critic. Can this aspiring family convince the world that it deserves to live like a dream? Is the dream home actually able to enrich them?

This critically acclaimed, bitter comedy by Wawrzyński Kostrzewski exposes human desires and shows how far you can go in pretending to be someone you are not. See for yourself what a modern family is capable of when a dream house is on the line.

The performance is undoubtedly an achievement of artistic fullness and purity of the message. Whether it comes to a sophisticated level of comedy, intelligent humor, the distribution of dramatic and farcical accents in escape from realism, the pursuit of universalization that is not devoid of metaphysics, the theatricality of situational solutions with an unabated use of visualization or very good, expressive acting (...)

(...) At some point, modern times with its technology catch up with the family. And then the concert of the acting game of the whole sextet begins. Each character created by the author is flawlessly portrayed by the team performing on the stage. They don't play. They are the personality types we meet on a daily basis!

As I mentioned above, there are six roles in the play: two male and four female. With all respect and acknowledging the acting artistry of the whole team, my attention was attracted by my mother, #Szczęśliwa Irenka — Izabela Dąbrowska and my daughter, aka #Barbi — Karolina Charkiewicz. The way Izabela Dąbrowska shows her transformation from an ordinary mother/wife into a Happy Irenka is worth all the awards. Karolina Charkiewicz is equal to her as an Orthodox young environmentalist in that she is always unchanging in her conduct and convinced of the correctness of her judgments. Both ladies give a show of acting at the highest level (...)

It is also necessary to pay attention to the visualization by Franciszek Barcisi and the music of Piotr Łabonarski. Without these elements, this show would not have happened. This must be seen and heard! Really! Just as in the best dish spices are super important, in theatrical performances they add details to the taste of the whole. In this staging, the voices playing from the tape play a huge role. Viewers hear the voice of Krystyna Czubówna, widely known from nature films. But the real shock can be experienced when at the end of the performance there is a dialogue between the characters from the stage with Emilian Kamiński!

The plot revolves around an ordinary family who gets a chance to get an apartment in a fashionable housing estate. This is not just a new place to live, but a ticket to a world in which, as it seems to them, they will finally be someone. Each of the characters shows a different face of this dream. Parents are lost in anticipation, the children are pulled to their extremes, and the grandmother tries to warn them, although no one listens to her. From the side, the figure of Cyber Woman, who acts as a crooked mirror of the Internet, looks at all this.

In the description, we feel that the show is not going to be a light joke, but deliberately exposes behaviors that we pretend do not exist on a daily basis. He points out the pursuit of apparent perfection, constant comparisons with others, obsession with the image. At the same time, he does not do it in an elitist or preaching form. It shows more of a family that is easy to sympathize with, because everyone once wanted to look better than they are.

The greatest force here seems to be exaggeration at its best: everything is a little overdone, but it hits the point. It's the kind of comedy that makes you laugh and then you think it's about us. A man leaves the theater amused, but with a slight sting of reflection.
A great show, definitely recommended to young people and parents who often do not have time for us — young ones!
