Grand Opera Gala

A sparkling evening of romance, tragedy and high spirits: the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra joins an international cast of soloists in a fabulous selection from the world's most popular operas. Love ranges from the tenderness of 'Che gelida manina' to the sensuality of 'Habanera' and the complexity of the Rigoletto Quartet, alongside heart-stopping duets from The Pearlfishers and Lakmé, and robust good humour from The Marriage of Figaro and Candide. Benjamin Pope conducts the London Oriana Choir in rousing choruses by Verdi, Mozart and Mascagni.

Programme: Highlights from Rossini's The Barber of Seville, Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail & The Marriage of Figaro, Puccini's La bohème, Bizet's The Pearlfishers & Carmen, Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana, Verdi's Macbeth, Rigoletto, Nabucco & La traviata, Bernstein's Candide, Delibes' Lakmé, Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, and Saint-Saëns' Samson et Dalila
