Presented in a new digital restoration, this beloved animation classic is directed by veteran filmmaker Wang Shau-di, who also contributed as a screenwriter to Wang Toon’s ‘Modern Taiwan Trilogy’. More than two decades later, its enduring popularity continues, with a long-awaited sequel now in production.
Dou Dou, a five-year-old boy, moves to a small village in Taiwan to spend a holiday with his grandmother, whom he has never met. Used to urban life and missing his parents, Dou Dou soon discovers that his eccentric grandmother, who lives in a mysterious old house, not only interacts with spirits, but also has the unique ability to control them.
Grandma and Her Ghosts is one of the most significant Taiwanese animated films and a box office hit. This story offers a charming insight into the invisible side of life and family ties, blending childhood and the supernatural in a light-hearted and entertaining adventure.
