Darkness and light collide as Grandmas House announces their arrival in VEGA
Born out of Bristol's live music environment, Grandmas House consists of Yasmin Berndt, Poppy Dodgson, Zoë Zinsmeister and Polly Jessett. Together they have created an expression in which resounding bass lines, angular guitars and multi-voiced harmonies meet in a field of tension between darkness and light.
On debut album Baby You're A Winner, due out on 21 August, the Bristol quartet captures both the melodic and the raw, the intimate and the chaotic.
Their songs revolve around love, grief, loneliness and the existential issues that come with life, while the band's distinctive interplay of high energy and emotional heaviness gives the music a distinctive nerve.
The band's debut album is the result of several years of development through EP releases and intensive concerts. With producer Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Yard Act, Perfume Genius) behind the buttons, Grandmas House has worked to capture the energy and intensity that has made their live shows a central part of the band's identity.
On October 16, audiences can experience the high-intensity and emotional universe of Grandmas House when the British quartet guests Ideal Bar.
