Grateka — Catan

We invite you to the next meeting of the series dedicated to board games! Each meeting is a different board game. Every meeting is a good time.

Our fourteenth proposal in the series takes players through the world of settlement, city building and civilization development on a small island... Welcome to Catan!

Catan is a popular board game where players take on the role of settlers inhabiting an island and developing their settlements. The goal of the game is to earn 10 victory points by building roads, settlements and cities and developing your civilization. The board game has an intriguing board building system, which makes every game different. Each of the tiles of the board represents a different type of terrain. They supply raw materials such as: wood, brick, grain, wool and stone. The production of resources depends on the results of dice rolls, which introduces an element of randomness.

A key element of the game is the trading between players — negotiations, exchanges and the conclusion of short-term alliances often determine victory. The settlement strategy and resource management also play an important role. An additional difficulty is the thief, who blocks the production and allows you to take cards from other players.
