About the event

Metal, Rock

Join us for a desert trek in Iceland's barren, volcanic landscapes or stare death straight in the eye when the two doom/sludge bands GRAVA and Morpholith take on the Flea on November 3rd!

GRAVA

GRAVA plays crushingly heavy and atmospheric sludge metal. The soundscape is a mix of abysmally heavy guitar riffs, pulsating bass lines and doomsday drums, which coalesce with dirty-dirty vocals. The Faroe/Danish trio from Copenhagen began their musical work in 2020 and in 2022 released their debut album, “Weight of a God”. The album's songs revolve around man's encounter with death, seen through the eyes of the dying; a theme that envelops GRAVA's aggressive sludge metal in a bleak and alluring atmosphere.

GRAVA has toured extensively over the past few years, including at Uhrt Festival in Copenhagen, and together with well-known bands, including PigSx7, UFOMAMMUT, KATLA, LIFESICK and HALSHUG. In 2024, GRAVA's second album, 'The Great White Nothing', was released - and although it's not a concept album, GRAVA uses truly macabre stories as inspiration for their dystopian universe. The Franklin expedition's Arctic shipwrecks, executions of Swedish noblemen and train accidents in Gentofte - GRAVA has no touchy-fear-mongering when it comes to life's darker sides.

Like on their debut album, however, GRAVA does not attempt to tell stories from A-Z, but instead to capture the moments of death seen through the eyes of the dying. The effect is a musical and lyrical death drama that appears fragmented and intense, but also surprisingly disciplined in terms of songwriting.

Live, GRAVA invites you to face death directly as they play on the Flea alongside Morpholith.

“A drumming sonic landscape that sounded like a doomsday scenario brought to life through music.” - Soundvenue, 2024

MORPHOLITH

Icelandic Morpholith have set heavy footprints on the metal scene with their live debut in 2017. Already from their first EP of 2018, 'Void Emissions', the Icelanders began a descent into the cruellest depths of hell.

Their debut album, 'Dystopian Distributions of Mass Produces Narcotics', was released in 2024 and invited the listener into cool and riff-borne doom/sludge inspired by Iceland's raw and volcanic landscapes.

Morpholith have played concerts in both Iceland and abroad and are currently embarking on their third Scandinavian tour. They've performed before at acclaimed festivals such as Wacken Open Air, A Colossal Weekend and Sonic Ritual, and now they're set to bring the sounds of Iceland's raw landscapes to The Flea on November 3.

See you!
