The unruly Irish punk band Gurriers are back in Copenhagen on 28 November - this time at Floppen, where they will bring a new and bigger sound from their upcoming album 'Nobodys Coming To Save You'!
The concert is presented in collaboration with Luger - ticket sales start on May 22 at 10 a.m.
The Gurriers cemented their status as one of the most unmistakable, raw forces on the Irish punk scene with their debut album Come And See in 2024. As yet another band created during the Corona epidemic, the band's crew - singer Dan Hoff, guitarists Ben O'Neill and Mark MacCormack and drummer Pierce Callaghan - spent the following years building a reputation on their hometown scene in Dublin, where the band quickly gained acclaim for their notoriously bone-crushing and moshpit-welcoming shows. On their debut album 'Come And See', the band also explored their lyrical abilities with a social-critical focus on digital anxiety and terror in the modern world.
In the months following the release of 'Come And See', the Gurriers escalated as a band: they were invited on Jools Holland's late night show Later, played Glastonbury and warmed up for both Turnstile and Kneecap, as well as a tour of Europe, where the band had now also got bassist Charlie McCarthy on stage.
Now the sequel to 'Come And See' is on the way... 'Nobody's Coming To Save You' is due out on the 25th. September via Play It Again Sam. According to the band themselves, the album might as well have been titled 'harder, better, faster, stronger' - the sound has become bigger and has been made for the bigger stages that the band plays on now and moves away from the sinister punk-club sound, though without compromising authenticity or energy.
Recorded at Holy Mountains Studios in London with Idles' Mark Bowen and Loren Humphrey (Geese, Cameron Winter) in the production driver's seat, the album takes Gurrier's musical chemistry and nimble observations about the world to new, bombastic heights on the album. The album manages to bring together everything from hardcore to trip hop to dance-punk hedonism under a new roof, marking a maturation of Gurrier's inscrutable sound. The themes of the lyrics are political and sometimes philosophical - but Gurriers do not claim to have answers to the great political questions of the time, on the contrary, they address the crises of the time, in an album that is red-hot with activism.
Live promises the chaotic wildness of Gurrier, which Copenhagen got to see when they put down a sold-out Huset back in 2024. We can't wait to see them command the pits at Flea on November 28.
