About the event

The Gliwice Chamber Orchestra Foundation and the Victoria Culture Centre in Gliwice invite you on 15 November 2026 at 6 pm to the concert hall of the L. Różycki State Music School I and II degree at 12 Ksiecia Ziemowita Street in Gliwice for the annual concert of the Gliwice Chamber Orchestra from the series “Master Interpretations”.

This year's event will also take place in cooperation with the International Krzysztof Penderecki Festival — level 320 and the festival “All'Improvviso”. Thanks to this cooperation, outstanding artists will come to Gliwice, and the audience can count on another unique meeting with music of the highest standard.

The role of soloist will be performed by the outstanding South Korean violinist Soyoung Yoon, winner of the most important international violin competitions. The artist is well known to the Polish public, especially as the winner of the 1st prize of the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznań.

Her performance in Gliwice will be a special event also because in 2025 she became a finalist and winner of the special prize of the Olympus International Violin Competition in Dubai. As part of this award, he will perform under the direction of Jurek Dybał — musician of the Vienna Philharmonic, conductor and director of the International Krzysztof Penderecki Festival — level 320 in Zabrze, one of the jurors of this prestigious competition.

The Krzysztof Penderecki International Festivals — level 320 will be hosted for the first time in Gliwice, a city with which part of the close family of the late Patron of the Festival is connected. This year's 13th edition of the Festival was held under his honorary patronage by his daughter, Dominika Penderecka. Prestige is added by the fact that the Gliwice event is under the patronage of the President of Gliwice.

Masterful Interpretations

Soyoung Yoon and the Gliwice Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Jurek Dybał will present an extremely colorful program, which will include unique masterpieces by Polish composers: Mieczysław Weinberg, Andrzej Panufnik and Krzysztof Penderecki. The whole event will be crowned with a melodic and Italian enchanting concert on strings by Nino Rota — a composer known to a wide audience also for his cult film music, including The Godfather, for which he received an Oscar.

Soyoung Yoon is a laureate of numerous prestigious violin competitions. Among her most important successes are the laurels of the Queen Elizabeth Competition, the David Oystrach International Violin Competition, the Indianapolis International Violin Competition and the Yehudi Menuhin International Young Violin Competition.

She has performed as a soloist with such orchestras as the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Prague Philharmonic, Bilbao Sinfonikoa Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Geneva Chamber Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra, National Orchestra Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Bern Symphony Orchestra, Izmir State Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Soloists and Zurich Chamber Orchestra.

She has collaborated with eminent conductors and musicians, including Krzysztof Penderecki, Ivor Bolton, Krzysztof Urbański, Muhai Tang, Maxim Vengerov, Eiji Oue, Michał Neserowicz, Gilbert Varga, Mario Venzago, Antoni Wit, Nayden Todorov, Sascha Götza Yi-Chen Lin and Jesek Sirvend and Jurek Dybala.

The artist plays the ex-Bückeburg violin from 1773, by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini.

The Gliwice concert will therefore not only be a meeting with one of the most outstanding violinists of her generation, but also a unique opportunity to listen to an extremely attractive repertoire for chamber orchestra — from masterpieces of Polish music to Nino Rota's full of Mediterranean charm.

You cannot be missed!

The event is organised by the Gliwice Chamber Orchestra Foundation.
