HALF LIGHT — An audiovisual concert experience between sound, image and perception
HALF LIGHT brings together leading international artists who work at the interface of sound, image and perception.
Designed as a single, continuous experience, the evening unfolds as a coherent arc. Each performance is part of a larger sonic and visual development: from the haptic world of magnetic tape to immersive audiovisual compositions to huge drones and a radical brutalist reduction.
Italian composer Abul Mogard, one of the most idiosyncratic voices in contemporary ambient and electronic music, together with Brazilian visual artist Marja de Sanctis, presents the audiovisual premiere of a new work that continues the world of Quiet Pieces, Mogard's acclaimed album from 2025. Known for condensing slowly flowing electronic sounds, archival material and dense harmonic textures into far-reaching, immersive sound worlds, Mogard is translating his unmistakable approach into a new collaboration with de Sanctis. The work, developed specifically for the monumental architecture of the concrete hall, places sound, image, memory and light in a new spatial relationship.
The Ibero-American artist Rafael Anton Irisarri is a master of sonic world building. Over two decades, his extensive work has repeatedly explored the boundaries between ambient, drone, minimalism and electronic music. Irisarri presents a solo concert based on his recent work Points of Inaccessibility. With a painted guitar, towering harmonies and long-lasting, expansive drones, the performance explores the paradox of decoupling in an age of constant connectivity. Digital alienation is translated into a profoundly physical sound experience.
The evening kicks off with Mexican sound artist Concepción Huerta, who stands for a new generation of experimental artists who emerged from Mexico City's lively electronic and electroacoustic scene and is now attracting international attention. Recently presented in The Wire for her work with magnetic tape, Huerta is turning this medium into live contemporary practice. With feedback, filters and layered sound fragments, she makes the band itself a physical instrument: volatile, haptic and lively.
