About the event

Animrochs, or short films in the Halloween version, return in a new form — in the dialogue of two curators of one set.

Tosia and Veronika were looking for answers to many questions that bothered them. As always, they found them in animation. Unfortunately, this time during the conversation the gloom, strange events and disturbing twists began to get out of hand.

If, like them, when brushing your teeth in the morning you wonder: can plasticine cause pain and horror? What can insomnia lead to? Is a wolf in the woods really the worst thing that can happen to a grandmother? What does the soul do when the body dies? What secrets does a remote emu farm hide? Why shouldn't children watch commercials? And what does the night shift actually look like at the gas station?

This session is for you.

Amarelo Banana, dir. Alexandre Sousa, Portugal, Hungary 2025, 12′42″

After another sleepless night, a man frustrated with his social life stumbles upon a mysterious community that inhabits his building. Out of boredom, he decides to visit them, however, the visit quickly turns into a bizarre experience that makes him begin to question whether what is happening is real.

Czarny Kapturek, dir. Piotr Dumała, Poland 1983, 5'15”

Black Riding Hood goes with a basket to Grandma. While hiking through the forest, while collecting flowers in a forest clearing, he feels a surge of inexplicable fury. Meanwhile, a wolf lurks nearby. This meeting begins an unpredictable spiral of events.

Judy1964, dir. Marie-Hélène Van Thuyne, Belgium 2025, 5'10”

Sixties, suburbs. Little Judy is fascinated by the advertisement of a new toy gun. However, when he accidentally finds a real weapon belonging to his parents, the line between children's play and real danger begins to blur.

Fried! , dir. Lizzie Watts, United Kingdom 2025, 9'53”

Duszyczka, dir. Barbara Rupik, Poland 2019, 9'12”

A dead body was drowned by the river bank. Its decayed interior still hides a soul — a miniature of the body of the deceased. The rotting organs split and the tiny figure breaks through to the outside. Standing on the shore, he says goodbye to his body and sets off on a journey through the afterlife.

Bunnyhood, dir. Mansi Maheshwari, United Kingdom 2024, 9'07”

“Bunnyhood” is a frantic nine-minute ride without a handhold, described by Directors Notes as “pure fuel for nightmares” and reminiscent of “watching scribbles etched on an old school bench that suddenly come to life.”

A clay sculpture awakens to life in the gloom of the studio, surrounded by strange creatures...
