1955, New York. Private detective Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke) accepts a lucrative assignment from the mysterious Louis Cyphre (Robert De Niro). His mission is to find singer Johnny Favorite, who has been missing years ago, and the investigation takes the protagonist to New Orleans, into the heart of occult rituals, into the throes of a sultry summer, into a world of black jazz and smoky haunts. Haunted by visions, nightmares and densely packed corpses, Angel will finally arrive at the terrifying truth — and the viewer will reach an unforgettable finale and one of the most iconic plot twists in cinema history, not just horror.
About the event
Alan Parker (“Mississippi on Fire”, “Midnight Express”, “Pink Floyd: The Wall”) masterfully combines crime noir with satanic horror, creating a work with an inimitable atmosphere. As frenetic and sensual as “Possession,” dreamy and disturbing as “Lost Highway,” pagan and mischievous as “Ninth Gate,” and as brilliant and surprising as “Memento” (which he inspired, by the way) — “Harry's Angel” can be compared to many titles, but it always eludes with classifications. Like the creator in this film, perhaps the best role of his life, the rebellious Mickey Rourke, as well as De Niro in perhaps the most eccentric of his on-screen incarnations. The dark charm of this VHS classic will conquer the souls of the next fans during the Halloween reunion at the Cinema Around the Corner!
