Welcome to Hope — Premiere

Residents of the quiet coastal town of Hope are cut off from the world by deadly wildfires that are devouring the surrounding forests. The police receive numerous reports of unusual activity of predatory animals that begin to attack people. It soon turns out that these dramatic events are a harbinger of something much worse. People begin to die under more and more drastic circumstances, and it soon becomes clear that Hope has become the target of an attack by mysterious creatures that do not resemble either humans or animals. Where do they come from, what are their intentions, and is Hope just part of some larger plan? Two local police officers are trying to find answers to these questions. In order to do this, they must first survive. (Monolith Movies)

ELIMINATION — Premiere

Horror/sci-fi, subtitles (93 min.) (...)

Celeste is a former military sniper who is still haunted by memories of the battlefield. She lives in a caravan, where she hides from the world and shares custody of her daughter with her ex-partner. But peace is not intended for her. Not far from the camping estate stretches a desert, and on it there is a military base, where a secret experiment is being conducted. When mutated soldiers break free, Celeste must return to what she ran from and what she knows best: fight and kill. And there is no more efficient machine to inflict death than a mother who must protect her child. Armed with a chainsaw, one-eyed, bloodstained like Ash Williams, she will show the mutants that they were safest in the desert.

“Elimination” is a fleshly and bloody cinema, consumed with the fun of the genre. It has the feel of a good old grindhouse movie, and every scene here can end in a spectacular explosion or a gruesome carnage. The blood is hairy on all sides, the limbs flutter in the air, and the whole juggles the films and plays with the expectations of the spectators. There is a fight to the death, the mutants' eyes are lit up in the dark, there is finally an excellent Dan Stevens in the role of the mad scientist who is behind all this nightmare. “Elimination” is a production for viewers who do not shudder at the onscreen violence, and at the same time manage to appreciate the game by convention. This is a cinema for those who like when the action does not knock politely on the door, but knocks it out of the shoe. His energy is contagious. (splatfilmfest.com)

BEWARE — Premiere

Horror/sci-fi, subtitles (104 min.) (...)

A team of doctors venture into the wild depths of the Amazon jungle with a humanitarian mission. However, the noble motives of the team are put to the test when their presence draws attention to something ancient, monstrous and very attached to its territory. The jungle is governed by its own laws, and the characters will quickly find out that man is not always at the end of the food chain. A ruthless struggle for survival begins, in which the monster has a decisive advantage.

“Beware Boiúna” is a full-blooded creature feature that combines survival thriller, horror and action cinema with the exotic scenery of the Amazon jungle and South American mythology. Mike P. Nelson's film harnesses one of horror cinema's oldest fears: a human encounter with a powerful predator that cannot be tamed or predicted. Here nature is one of the protagonists. “Beware Boiúna” draws on the classic tradition of cinema about monsters, but chooses for its place of action the one in which man has always been an intruder.
