Shakespeare was already writing about Gen Z.
“Hamlet” is an attempt to reinterpret and modernize the plot of Shakespeare's drama. The action is transferred to the technofeudal reality, in which the supreme power is the state corporations. The son of the previous CEO of the company “DANIA” returns to the company for the funeral of his father and learns about the causes of his death. Meanwhile, a rebellion breaks out in the recently acquired AI model company (“NORWAY”) by “DENMARK”. Is there a chance for revolution?
“Hamlet” combines three main themes: Family, Death and Law as the constructive basis of the drama.
The creators of the play challenge the right of inheritance as a capitalist tool of exploitation having its origin in feudalism and patriarchy.
At the same time, they ask a question about the meaning of rebellion and the struggle against the system, they make a diagnosis about the revolutionary potential of generation Z.
The new adaptation of Hamlet draws deeply from Internet culture, the emphasis in the play is on meta-theatrical treatments and contact with the audience.
