Despite entering its fourth decade of operation, Hatebreed are not settling on their laurels or slowing down. On the contrary, the formation led by Jamie Jasta continues to prove that it belongs to the forefront of aggressive playing. Their metal-infused hardcore has always done the job — “Satisfaction is the Death of Desire,” “Perseverance” and “The Rise of Brutality” are, of course, legendary titles for the genre (“Live for This” from the latter was even nominated for a GRAMMY Award), but in fact, no album by the Bridgeport, Connecticut line-up has seen a reduction in form. Late last year, Hatebreed shared “Make the Demons Obey” — a thrash-soaked track that heralds their first record in six years.
American guitar music of the 90s in a nutshell? Here, without hesitation, you can point to Life of Agony. Their debut, drawing on New York's hardcore, groove metal and grunge “River Runs Red” was placed on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. On the next album, “Ugly”, the group refreshed their sound and turned to alt-rock. The album was the first in its history to hit the Billboard 200 chart. The band led by Keith Caputo continues to perform well live, and the joint tour with Hatebreed will be another proof of this.
