Hazlett, Missouri

“A sensitive, stubborn, simple, romantic guy”. This is how Mitchell Hazlett Lewis presents himself and his musical project, which bears merely his middle name and is one of the most exciting new names of recent years in the borderland between folk, singer/songwriter and indie.

Hazlett's songs have the emotion outside on the woodsman's shirt as they treat intimate thoughts and existential themes in beautiful melodies, sophisticatedly redeemed in big goosebump-inducing choruses.

Having begun his career on smaller local stages in his native Australia, Hazlett's artistic visions gained serious air under the wings during a trip to Sweden, where he resides today.

The result was released in 2023 in the form of the form-complete debut “Bloom Mountain”, which excellently combines classical folk music traditions with a modern and directly communicative songwriting. The sequel “Last Night You Said You Missed Me” followed in 2025, with Clash Music honoring the thoughtful and life-wise album with a whopping 8 out of 10 stars, writing: “It's subtle; you'll need to listen with commitment, but that investment will be rewarded”.
