Heavy, Baby is a dance performance by the duo Alex Freiheit (PL) and Auguste de Boursetta (FR). It is a dance and sound love letter to teenage experiences and dreams. It is also the second collaboration of these performers after What will remain secret, which was shown, among others, at the International Theatre Festival in Avignon (IN section). In the previous dance, Alex and Auguste explored childhood memories, with Heavy, Babies plunged deeper into this strange darkness of adolescence that lurks beneath a soft and light surface, created among other things by the costumes of Polish designer of the younger generation Martyna Konieczny.

In Heavy, Baby with their dance, choreography and equally important music, the dancers give life to a giant, angry and incomprehensible teenage child. The world where this dance takes place is an abandoned music club where two queer Angels meet after falling from the sky. They get to know each other through the shreds of memories they have, through choreography reminiscent of the spooky Muppet Show, and even through the decision they make together — to form a band.

The show is based on contact choreography, in which bodies merge, transform and give birth to imaginary creatures: characters from the past hidden under the bed, in the closet or in forgotten corners of memory. Here ghosts and invisible friends become partners in motion, influencing not only gestures, but also sound space. The music was created by both Alex and Auguste, as well as French DJ Mona Fellach and Collin Cabanis, who also helped create the choreography of the show. The whole thing is to intensify the aspirations of these two characters, who are trying hard to behave like a musical band, or rather a teenage dream of owning it.
