Hedda Gabler lives a life full of conventions. She is trapped: in her marriage, in her time and in a play. Hedda is an anti-heroine, a pioneer and a mystery at the same time. What drives them in their seemingly destructive actions? What makes them stand out? Your desire? Your pride? Your actions? In his piece, which premiered in 1891, Henrik Ibsen questions the values of his time — not only through the content, but also through the form and relationship with his audience. The team led by WORX director Heiki Riipinen does the same: They reload the piece. Hedda's home and life become a “crime scene,” in which the spectrum of traditional interpretations of relationship and being is expanded beyond the heteronormative.
