A sign of the times, eerie and hallucinatory -- Helen Island creates alternative pop music that reflects late capitalism and the sugar-sweet worldview of the digital world. The Paris-based interdisciplinary artist -- who explores painting, poetry and other forms of conceptual art alongside music -- has a distinctive bedroom-production style with filtered high notes, fragmented samples, genre clippings and processed vocals.

After self-releasing several cassette tapes and digital releases, based on the approach of the collective Simple Music Experience, 2024 was the year of Helen Island's debut album at Knekelhuis, while 2025 was the year of the new album “silence is priceless”. In 2026, Helen Island released the EP “Worst Feeling Ever” and performs her music at RUST on November 18.
