Henryk Miśkiewicz/75 years of the Master and Guests

Henryk Miśkiewicz is a unique figure on the Polish jazz scene (and not only). He belongs to a narrow group of the most prominent alto saxophonists, but he also plays the soprano and the clarinet. In the 70s and 80s, his saxophone was heard on every second Polish album, he was part of the bands Jazz Carriers and Sun Ship, he was a soloist of the Jazz Studio of Polish Radio, and to this day he is the leader of the Full Drive formation.

Among Polish jazz musicians, it would be easier to name those with whom he did not play. He has toured all over the world with Ewa Bem, Andrzej Jagodziński, Jarosław Śmietana, Wojciech Karolak and Adzik Sendecki. He has played with such stars as Pat Metheny, Joe Lovano or David Murrray. He is a multiple winner of the Jazz Top plebiscite of the “Jazz Forum” magazine in the category of alto saxophone and clarinet, as well as the winner of the Fryderyk Awards.

Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski calculated that he had not played with anyone longer than with Henryk Miśkiewicz, for as many as 45 years. “Such a shaggy 20-year-old came to the studio and was surprised by the fact that he read sheet music better than books or newspapers,” Ptaszyn recalled. And he emphasized the phenomenal improvisational abilities of the saxophonist. Because Henryk Miśkiewicz cuts otherworldly solos on the viola. And that's always. The Jubilee Concert will create an opportunity to present the artist's past and present work. Excellent guests will appear on it.

Duration is subject to change.
