The architectural historian William Aslet invites us to look up and look around us at this glorious 300-year-old building. James Gibbs was one of the most important architects in eighteenth-century England, bridging the Italian Baroque and English Palladianism. His buildings include the Radcliffe Camera in Oxford and the Senate House in Cambridge, many spectacular houses, and the churches of St Mary-le-Strand and St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Chaired by Richard Carter.
This lecture is also being live-streamed. For livestream tickets, visit here.
The suggested price for tickets is £10 to cover our costs, but free tickets are also available so as not to exclude anyone who would like to come. All are welcome.
The Autumn Lecture Series is working with the European Festivals Forest to plant trees to mitigate our carbon footprint. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed and already planted a hectare of mixed woodland, banking 700 metric tonnes of carbon.
