Can the desire for freedom be an addiction? Are there limits to crossing borders? Is the final resolution of the struggle against oneself a victory or a loss?
“HIBERNACJA” is a story about a Himalayan trek inspired by the life of Tomek Mackiewicz. Climbing here, however, is only an excuse to talk about human strength and weakness, about the human tendency to self-destruction and the desire to save. It is also a study of the two faces of Himalayism: the one that represents a journey into oneself against all odds, and the one that is exclusively an ambitious, deadly sport.
This theatrical story, like the climb itself, is only a starting point for us: based on a particular biography, we want to tell about what transcends us and what we constantly strive for: Humanity and Hope.
The monodrama on the stage of the Small Theater in Tychy is directed by Beniamin M. Bukowski. The cast of the play will see the traveler and actor of the National Old Theater in Krakow — Krystian Durman.
