In “The History of Henry IV”, everything that we appreciate and like Shakespeare comes together in a masterful way. We have historical drama, family drama, the backstage of great politics, the study of morality and the coming to power, the story of the spectacular transformation of a loser into a future king, we also have a rogue adventure and, above all, an excellent comedy of rhymes farce. Isn't the world a theatre and Shakespeare's theatre the whole world?

“The Story of Henry IV” is a story about the fates of the four Henrys. The eponymous Henry IV — the king who took the throne after overthrowing Richard II — is now facing a rebellion on his own. Henry Percy, a former supporter of the king, incites the powerful to revolt. His son, Henry Percy, known as Hotspur, prepares to lead an army against the king. Meanwhile, the king's son, Henry the Prince of Wales, carelessly spends his time wandering around pubs with the dashing decadent Sir John Falstaff and his company.

French director Ivan Alexandre returns to the Polish Theatre after fourteen years. In 2011 he prepared a memorable staging of “Cyda” by Corneille with Paweł Krucz in the title role.
