About the event

Music, freedom and the rebellion of an entire generation! We invite you to a unique screening of the cult musical “Hair” (1979) directed by Miloš Forman. The screening will be accompanied by a lecture and discussion with the participation of Piotr Metz — a respected music journalist and expert in the history of rock 'n' roll.

During the meeting, Piotr Metz will present the musical and cultural context of the film, which to this day remains a symbol of the era of flower children. It will be an opportunity to rediscover the phenomenon of “Hair” and talk about the times when music became the manifesto of a generation.

“Hair” is Miloš Forman's iconic musical, a film adaptation of the Broadway hit, and takes viewers to America in the late 1960s — a world of hippie counterculture, anti-war protests and youthful rebellion.

Claude Bukowski, a twenty-year-old boy from Oklahoma, arrives in New York before starting his military service. A chance encounter with a group of hippies completely changes his outlook on life. Among his new friends, he discovers a world of free love, music, and ideals that stand at odds with the reality of war-torn America.

Full of energy, humor and unforgettable songs, the film tells the story of the collision of individual freedom with social expectations. With songs such as “Aquarius” and “Let the Sunshine In”, “Hair” has become one of the most recognizable cinematic symbols of the generation of flower children.

It is a timeless story about friendship, love, the need for independence and the price that comes to pay for one's own convictions.
