“Natural Stories” — music by Waldemar Knade

19:00 — opening of the exhibition of works by Marta Ipczyńska and Marta Rosenthal entitled “Natural Histories”

Waldemar Knade — Polish violinist, arranger and composer. He graduated from the Instrumental Faculty of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the viola class of Prof. Jan Paruzel.

In the years 1980—1996 he was an orchestral musician of the viola section of the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz. He then joined the Capella Bydgostiensis chamber orchestra as soloist-chamber musician. At the same time he co-created the string quartet “Pomeranian Quartet”, with which he toured on stages in Poland and abroad.

Despite his classical education, the artist actively acts on the scene of jazz and avant-garde music. He has toured and recorded with, among others, Krzysztof Ścierański, Włodzimierz Kiniorski, Jerzy Mazzoll, Józef Skrzek, Milo Kurtis, Jorgos Skolias and musicians from the USA: Grant Calvin Weston, Steve Kindler, Jeffrey Krieger and Warren Benbow.

At the invitation of many artists, he took part in the recording of about 20 albums. His most important work is two albums:

“Metamorphosis” (2015) — created in collaboration with Grant Calvin Weston

“Stories” (2023) — recorded with the participation of outstanding guests, including Jorgos Skolias, Jerzy Mazzolla and Cezary Konrad.

The album “Stories” was recognized by critics and respected music reviewers. The artist conducts an active concert activity, constantly experiments with the unusual sound of instruments and prepares material for subsequent releases.
