Historical tour: From crematorium to cultural quarter
The former Berlin-Wedding crematorium is one of the listed buildings in Berlin and reflects the city's history in a unique way. Built between 1909 and 1910 as the city's first crematorium, the building bears witness to the change in funeral culture in Germany for over a century. When the vacant building was put up for sale by the Berlin Senate, the silent green was awarded the contract at the beginning of 2013. Following a comprehensive renovation by Silent Green (2013—2015), in close cooperation with the Berlin Heritage Protection Agency, the independent project has found its home here.
Unfortunately, the area is not completely barrier-free! The tour also takes place on the outdoor area.
