About the event

We invite you to a unique concert full of southern temperament, colors and musical emotions. “Spanish Inspirations” is a meeting with music in which the vibrancy of Spanish dance, lyricism, rhythm and unusual colors of the orchestra are intertwined.

The evening will begin with Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga's “Los feliz”, a youthful work by the composer sometimes called “the Spanish Mozart”. Already in this composition we find Arriaga's characteristic combination of classic elegance with Spanish temperament.

The central point of the program will be “Iberia” by Isaac Albéniz in the elaboration of M. Madrid. This is an extremely colorful musical journey through Spain, in which the composer evokes the atmosphere of Seville, the port bustle and the streets of Albacín. The program will include three parts of this famous cycle: “Corpus Christi en Sevilla”, “El puerto” and “El albaicín”. The pianistic originality of the work will be replaced here by an orchestration full of color and dynamism, allowing to bring out new sonic nuances from Albéniz's music.

The Spanish character of the concert will also be highlighted by Gerónimo Giménez's “La boda de Luis Alonso” — full of energy and dance charm of zarzuela, a genre that combines music, singing and theater. It is a composition seething with rhythm, humor and temperament that transports the listeners to the world of the Spanish scene of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Finally, we will return to the work of Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, presenting his Symphony in D major. The work impresses with its classical form, clarity and youthful energy of the composer, whose untimely death has left his work small but extremely interesting.

“Spanish Inspirations” is a concert in which the classical form meets the southern temperament and the music becomes a journey through the different faces of Spain — from the opera scene, through the streets of Seville, the port landscapes and Andalusian neighborhoods, to the symphonic world of Arriaga.

On this evening full of rhythm, color and Spanish emotions, you will be accompanied by the Karol Namysłowski Symphony Orchestra in Zamość under the baton of José Rodilla Tortajada.
