In this brand-new, interactive workshop, students explore how nuclear energy works - from how fuel is produced to how electricity is generated to power our homes.
Developed in collaboration with Urenco, our headline supporter of the UYSC, this session is designed to give a real insight into nuclear science from carbon-free fuel to nuclear medicine.
Get hands-on by building your own model centrifuge, discover how the national grid distributes electricity, and investigate how nuclear technology is being used in medicine and future innovations like nuclear fusion.
This workshop takes place in the Urenco Young Scientist Centre’s teaching laboratory. For safety reasons, all participants must wear closed-toe shoes, and anyone with long hair is required to tie it back.
For young people who are in Years 10, 11, 12 or 13 this term. This typically corresponds to young people aged around 14-18 years old. We reserve the right to refund or deny entry to those who are not in the correct year group.
