HORIZONTISTS: “SCI in nature. Insects in Forensic Medicine” — meeting with Dagmara Lisman, MD

Can insects help solve a crime riddle? It turns out that yes! During the lecture we will learn how forensic entomology is used, that is, the science that deals with the study of insects for the purposes of legal proceedings. We will learn about the methods of work of specialists who, based on the presence and development of insects, are able to recreate the circumstances of events and provide valuable information to investigators.

The lecture will be led by Dr. Dagmara Lisman, MD - a specialist in the field of forensic genetics, scientist and practitioner, whose activities combine modern molecular technologies with real challenges of medicine, forensics and human identification. Professionally associated with the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, where she also works as an expert in the Department of Forensic Medicine, she has been developing innovative methods for analyzing biological material with a high degree of degradation for years.
