Join us for a free screening of the sixth episode of Black Journal, broadcast on 25 November 1968, was created in response to prejudiced media coverage of riots, aiming to document the everyday experiences and struggles of Black communities. Like much of the series, the episode features segments directed by emerging young filmmakers.
This episode, hosted by William Greaves (who would go on to produce the show) and Lou Howse, features segments on Black policemen, Ghanaian murals, and liberation movements in South Africa.
By bringing curiosity to an internationalist perspective, Greaves sought to reflect how Black people were working to resolve problems affecting their lives.
