The making of the boxer film “Rocky” (1976) is itself material for big cinema: The then unknown actor Sylvester Stallone (Anthony Ippolito) wrote a screenplay within just three and a half days and is firmly convinced that he was destined for the leading role. Although obstacles are put in his way time and again, the later world-famous action star puts all his eggs in one basket and, despite seemingly insurmountable resistance, insists on being in front of the camera himself as Rocky Balboa. The rest is movie history.
