Tychy have their own writers, their stories and their own literary voice. The new series “Tyskie Strony” will be an opportunity to discover them, get to know the creators associated with our city and look behind the scenes of their writing world.

Tyskie Strony is a new series of library meetings exploring the literary dimension of our city. During the next events we will present the work of writers from Tychy, we will talk about their books, inspirations and creative path. The first guest of the series will be Igor Kaleta, and the conversation will be led by the writer and also Tyshanka — Julia Hantulik.

Igor Kaleta is a political scientist and journalist by education. He took his first steps at the original radio station at Polish Radio Katowice. Over time, however, he switched the microphone to a radio console and took up the technical side of the sound, and then returned to the microphone as a local reporter in Bielsko-Biała. After almost ten years working as a journalist, he changed the industry — after a brief affair with gamedev, he ended up in a corporation.

He does not believe that good literature must be high literature. With what he writes, he tries above all to interest and tear the reader apart, even if it were to be laughter through tears. And if he manages to sneak one or two more ambitious thoughts, all the better. Literally, he is fascinated by science fiction classics — especially Philip Dick and Stanisław Lem, but Terry Pratchett and Stephen King also occupy a special place in his library.
