The production of a musical performance inspired by the fate of a pre-war movie star is underway. Two actresses apply for the role of Ina Benita, the first femme fatale of Polish cinema, and privately sisters, Kasia and Basia Kurdej. We look at the theater from behind the scenes, where the past mingles with the present, and the lines between truth and fiction seem to be less and less clear.

In the rehearsal room, as it happens, so far nothing is going as it should: the costumes are tangled, there is chaos in the script, the director is late. Even the coffee maker gets stuck every now and then. But the artists don't want to wait any longer, so they decide to take matters into their own hands and get down to business themselves. Who will be Ina?

Benita's moving and mysterious life story is the canvas of a story about artists now and then — a story beautifully sung, danced with all her heart and glorified in the latest language of Polish poetry.
