About the event

Infinétude is a performance in which six voices and six bodies create rhythms together through sound, movement and dance. The performance is at once a concert for six voices and a choreographic work for six bodies. Layer upon layer of visual and aural rhythms form the basis for a sensuous weaving of dance, song and reflection.

The work examines the relationship between abstraction, patterns and emotions. What happens when a syncope evokes joy, a vocal chord carries sadness, a movement harbors anger, or a melody becomes an expression of resistance? Infinétude directs attention to the emotional qualities that arise in the interaction of rhythm, body and voice, amplifying their power.

Through polyrhythmic structures—a sustained exercise in not thinking or being unambiguous—the performance explores how diversity can empower the individual, and how the ability to both listen and act can arise through dancing, singing, and thinking together.

The title Infinétude points in three directions. It refers to infinitude — the feeling of something that can go on endlessly. The featured É emphasizes the work's study of emotional connectedness. At a time when emotions are increasingly exploited by authoritarian and neo-fascist currents, the performance insists on the necessity of being able to accommodate both clear thinking and an open, feeling presence. Finally, étude refers to the study — the investigative practice in which movement and voice become tools to shape, challenge and transform our experience of space and time.
