DR Symphony Orchestra
The conductor Pietari Inkinen brought out absolutely enchanting sounds from the DR Symphony Orchestra when he conducted Mahler's Symphony No. 3 at short notice in 2024. Now he returns with a composer who is even closer to his heart: Wagner.
Siegfried and Götterdämmerung is the culmination of Wagner's masterpiece The Ring of the Nibelung — a masterpiece of musical storytelling, in which a giant symphony orchestra delivers the most powerful cinematic effect imaginable.
The two operas are haunted by the curse of their predecessors. Inkin's selection of highlights follows Siegfried's journey from rebellious youth to transformative love and heroism as he tries in vain to make everything right, leaving it to his beloved Brünnhilde to pick up the scraps.
We will hear some of the Ring's most advanced, immersive and mood-saturated orchestral music — dark and dense, brilliant and electrifying. In addition, the strong voices of two singers who are well known in Bayreuth: the British soprano Catherine Foster and the Danish tenor Magnus Vigilius.
