The porcelain and music series at KGM combines ceramic and musical creations. In the midst of originals made of porcelain and faience, music is heard that references the works of art on display in various ways.
This year's motto “Shepherd's Hour” draws the eye and ear to pastoral ideal worlds of the 18th century. The aristocracy's longing for an informal life in harmony with nature is reflected both in the porcelain figurines and in the music, the sung lyrics and the choice of musical instruments.
On 14.11.2026, the ensemble “Salicornia” (Gerold Jensen, Katja Kanowski and Michael Mages) will be playing very special musical instruments, including the Uilleann Pipes and the Nyckelharpa. They are easily comparable to bagpipes and hurdy-gurdy, which can be found in miniature format on porcelain and faience figures and were very popular in the 18th century. Their special timbres harmonized with shepherd scenes, as staged in the salon, on the opera stage or outdoors.
Moderated by Dr. Claudia Kanowski (KGM), in conversation with the musicians and with Dr. Benedikt Brilmayer (MIM)
