Intervention in the collection warehouse - vernissage

Opening of an artistic intervention in the space of the exhibition “Reading the Collection”. The intervention was undertaken by young people from the 12th Cyprian Kamil Norwid High School in Krakow. In September, they worked in three workshop groups based on the gallery collection and the Nowa Huta space. The workshops were led by: painter Mateusz Szczypiński, artistic duo Alex-M and Weronika Kuśmider and sound artist Przemysław Niemczewski. Collages, spatial mock-ups and a sound map were created, which entered into dialogue with the images of Nowa Huta presented at the exhibition.

All within the framework of the project “Intervention in the collection warehouse” implemented within the framework of the program “Culture - Interventions. The 2026 edition of the event was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the program of the National Cultural Center.

The Huta Sztuki Gallery has been operating since 2018. Its mission refers to the tradition of Gallery “Rytm” and focuses, among others, on presenting the achievements of the artistic community of Nowa Huta. Its exhibition programme is largely based on the collections of the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Cultural Centre, including works by Walente Gabrysiak, Julian Jończyk, Marian Kruczek, Lucjan Mianowski, Eugeniusz Mucha, Józefa Sobór-Kruczek, Józef Szajna, Janusz Trzebiatowski and Danuta Urbanowicz. The gallery also organizes temporary exhibitions, often in the form of individual presentations, which allow a closer look at the work of selected artists — both related to Nowa Huta and representing other artistic circles. The gallery performs not only an exhibition function, but also an educational one. Workshops, lectures, meetings and discussions are held here, which broaden the context of the presented works and enable the audience to actively participate in artistic and cultural life.
