About the event

Great ideas can change the world!

Registration is from 5:40pm – prompt start at 6:00pm

Whilst many of us spot the potential for a new product or a new piece of technology, the harsh realities of research and development, prototyping, manufacturing and distribution often mean that few of those ideas make it to market.

At this event, we will be talking to innovators who have already brought their products to market or who just have a “new idea” to discuss. Join us to learn about the journey, the problems to overcome and useful tips about bringing a new product to market.

The Inventors' Club is brought to you by the Business & IP Centre in collaboration with:

Bob Lindsey - Chartered Engineer with a wide experience of marketing and business management

Innovators who would like to present their idea should contact Bob Lindsey on blindsey@thamesproductions.co.uk

Our expert panel is drawn from:

Richard Hicks, Dean Carran and Stefan Knox, experienced Product Designers who design for inventors and large companies and who have also brought products of their own designs to market.

Speakers for Monday 26th October 2026

1. Sarah Lewendon, presented her environmentally-friendly system for the storage of biology material and small collectables to us last month but we ran out of time to learn about (i) the pitfalls and successes of converting the invention into a product, (ii) finding suppliers and appropriate UK manufacturers, and (iii) the marketing journey that led to first sales of the product. There is much for us to learn from her journey.

2. Paul and Neha are developing Dopameany, a playful, analogue object that helps families swap phone time for time together. They will share early designs and are looking for the room’s views on manufacturing, protecting the design, and getting to market.

Bob has spent over twenty years advising entrepreneurs and small businesses on getting their new products to market. He regularly runs Innovation Clinics at the British Library.

Innovators who would like to present their idea should contact Bob Lindsey on blindsey@thamesproductions.co.uk.

Mark volunteers his time with the Business & IP Centre on two Thursdays every month as the British Library's Inventor in Residence, helping over 1,000 aspiring innovators with their inventions. The Founder and Owner of Compgen Ltd and Culgen Ltd and the Chairman at Morgan Goodwin Ltd.
