IRRLICHTER — Rio Reiser — His songs

With IRRLICHTER, Frank Leo Schröder has written an intensive program that exclusively contains songs by Rio Reiser from all creative phases — and yet is so much more than a concert.

IRRLICHTER is interwoven with Rio Reiser original sounds far beyond the songs, with thought blocks and scraps of thought that make the person behind the artist visible and make the program so unique. It is not a Rio Reiser cover show, it is an homage to the exceptional artist and a deep bow to the very extraordinary person in many ways — even in his fractures.

Together with his great actor colleague Dana Golombek from Senden and the gifted musician and singer Kai Dannowski, Frank Leo Schröder is therefore not simply reactivating Rio Reiser's favorite songs: The stage play combines his entire thinking and feeling, carried by Rio's songs.

It has now been thirty years since this wonderful person and artist died much too young on 20.08.1996. This and the enthusiastic response from the audience at all concerts on the first tour are reason enough to continue Rio Reiser's legacy.

IRRLICHTER is intense, emotional, upsetting, but also funny. And although there will never be ultimate truths, after just over two hours, the audience will find what was so important to Rio throughout his life: truthfulness.
