How will the development of artificial intelligence affect the teaching process? In the face of the growing popularity of AI, should teaching methods be changed? Is it time to rewrite educational programs? — we invite you to a conversation among experts and practitioners.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the most important tools of technological development today and is playing an increasing role in the modern world. It can significantly facilitate work and problem solving, but its benefits depend on how people will use it.
AI enables computers to perform tasks that previously required human reasoning, such as analyzing data, recognizing images and speech, translating languages and creating texts. At the same time, the development of AI comes with challenges such as privacy protection, data security, misinformation, system errors, and the impact of automation on the labor market. That is why it is important to use AI responsibly and develop appropriate regulations and digital competences.
— How and what to teach in the age of artificial intelligence is a very important question — says Prof. Janusz Rachoń, head of the Civic Thought Club, co-organizer of the meeting. — It seems that it is not worth concentrating education on memorizing information that AI can find in a few seconds. It is necessary, first of all, to teach what a person needs in order to use AI wisely and not become mindlessly dependent on it.
Paradoxically, the existence of AI does not mean that knowledge ceases to be needed by man. Without knowledge, it is difficult to recognize the nonsense that AI duplicates, verify it and straighten it.
“In the age of artificial intelligence, it seems to be necessary to teach first and foremost: independent and critical thinking, recognizing errors, manipulation and false information, distinguishing facts from opinions and hypotheses, the art of asking questions and reading comprehension, but is this really a good direction? — adds Prof. Janusz Rachoń.
The organizers of the meeting are: Tadeusz Mazowiecki Civic Thought Club, ECS and ECS Foundation.
